Grants & Awards
Fundamental to OVI’s mission are the three programs in support of volunteers and volunteering in opera: a Matching Grants Program to help a realize a project involving volunteers, our Projects of Special Merit in which volunteer conceived and implemented projects are recognized, and Partners in Excellence where a special volunteer or significant anniversary are showcased.

Matching Grants
An integral part of OVI’s mission is the awarding of Matching Grants for projects to train volunteers, provide funds to implement projects and other activities optimizing the involvement of volunteers.
Matching Grants are grants awarded with the condition that applicants must contribute the same amount or more money as they're requesting on their application. For example, if an organization asks for a $1000 matching grant, they must contribute at least $1000 towards the project.

Perfect for funding operatic productions, outreach/educational programs, volunteer staff training, and more

Awards up to $2000

No application limits: if an organization earns a grant, they may apply again the following year, provided it's for a unique project, different from their previous submission. For example, if an opera company received a grant for funding a production, the following year's application should be for a different project, like an outreach program.
Project of Special Merit Award (PSM)
Project of Special Merit Awards highlight volunteer-driven projects and the ingenuity shown by your support group members.

Perfect for outreach programs, publications, community initiatives, unique or creative projects. The sky is the limit!

Did your project receive an OVI Grant last year? Apply for a PSM award this year and make it an award-winning initiative.

In addition to being featured in our National Newsletter, website, and social media, recipients also receive one complimentary ticket to our Award Banquet at our National Convention.

Recipients receive a certificate and a custom graphic for inclusion on their project PR (very helpful for book covers).

Partners In Excellence Award (PIE)
Since 1994-95, Opera Volunteers International has honored over 100 individuals and support groups who have made outstanding contributions to their opera companies and their communities. Partners in Excellence recognition may also be extended to support groups to recognize an important milestone or achievement.
