Kansas City Lyric Opera Guild (MO)

Founded in 1961, the Guild celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2011. The Guild is a social and support group for men and women of all ages who attend the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, and enjoy the camaraderie of others who share their interests. Throughout the year we party, get up close and personal with the artists and help them get acquainted in town, take trips together, share opera stories, learn LOTS…and generally support the Lyric Opera of Kansas City. We even have a “sub-set” of the Guild—Young Friends of the Lyric—just for young professionals under the age of 40.

Mary Leonida is the Guild president.

Austin Opera Guild

The Austin Opera Guild’s mission is to help provide cultural nourishment to the Central Texas community, as well as provide financial support to Austin Opera.

Guild members enjoy the company of other music lovers through educational and social events and volunteer opportunities throughout the opera season.

The Guild is 30 years strong and much has evolved. Today, the Guild is an organization that focuses on volunteer service to the Austin Opera company, opera enrichment for our members through social and educational opportunities, and fundraising through Special Events. Austin Opera Guild members plan and assist with fundraising events, like our signature Serenata Wine Dinner & Auction and our fabulous opening night dinners; welcome our visiting artists to Austin; and present educational programs for local schools and our members.

Almost 300 members make up the Guild, a lifeline for the company and our Central Texas community. There is nothing more rewarding than donating your time, energy, and talent to the Austin Opera.

Amarillo Opera BRAVO

Amarillo Opera was founded in April 1988 by Mila Gibson, Opera Workshop and Vocal Professor at Amarillo College from 1982-2000. The company’s first production, Giacomo Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, starred Gibson who also served as producer, director, costumer and publicist. The success of that initial production led to the incorporation of Amarillo Opera with Dr. Merrill and Catherine Winsett, H.R. and Thelma Fulton and Gibson as Founding Directors and Gibson as General Director, with complete administrative and artistic responsibility for the company. BRAVO, the Amarillo Opera membership support group, was established one year later with 75 charter members under the leadership of Founding President Dr. Bill Byrd.

Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony

Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point

Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point is a unique training program and festival founded in 1950.

Affiliated with the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC), Opera in the Ozarks has earned the reputation of being a prominent training program for all singers interested in pursuing a career in opera. Our alumni have sung on all the major operatic stages of the world. One of the outstanding features of the program is that every participant is afforded an opportunity to perform in fully produced operas, a scenes program or an educational outreach program taken to the several areas in Northwest Arkansas. Four weeks of intensive rehearsals under the direction of a professional staff culminate in a month of performances over the course of which the artists continue to grow and develop.

Nancy J. Preis is the General Director.
