Seattle Cancelled, Chicago Postponed

Marc Scorca, President/CEO of OPERA America, announced in a message to the opera community, that the 2020 Conference has been cancelled.  This decision was a necessary measure during these extraordinary times.

While our primary concern is the health and welfare of our OVI members and our greater community, we will miss the opportunity to gather together, to share resources and information, to celebrate our Partners in Excellence, Projects of Special Merit and Grant awardees and to enjoy the camaraderie of old friends and new.

We didn’t want our members to miss those opportunities and so planned to incorporate as much of the scheduled conference activities into our Fall Focus Meeting in Chicago this October. However, our partner company, Lyric Opera of Chicago, like many other opera companies cancelled its fall season.  OVI felt it only prudent to postpone our Focus Meeting until 2021.

We wish all our opera friends continued good health, safe encounters and hopes for the return of live opera as soon as wise to do so.
