Merci, Montreal

by Barb E on May 29, 2016

Back from Opera Conference 2016 in Montreal – amazing, vibrant, cultured  – inspired by leaders and innovators in the opera community and by our own volunteers.  We met new friends and had interesting conversations with folks who stopped by the OVI table in the exhibitors gallery.  We hope to get to know them better as members!

Rhonda Sweeney from Houston, Zack Hangauer from Kansas City and Susan Malott from San Francisco spoke about their support groups’ long-standing, successful projects at the session, Fundraising and Volunteer Power. Awesome!

At OVI’s roundtable on Saturday, we were all moved by stories of how meaningful were the honors and matching grants given each year by Opera Volunteers International. The roundtable and the Awards Dinner the night before renewed our enthusiasm and purpose for the work OVI does in support of opera volunteers and volunteering.

Watch for more details of the conference and awards in the summer newsletter.  And find this year’s awards and grants under the Grants and Awards pulldown menu on this website.

Plan to join OVI in Knoxville in October to meet with old and new friends, have a bunch of fun, eat good Tennessee food and be inspired.

The next Opera America/Opera Volunteers International conference will be next spring in Dallas.  Big D.
