Mayor of Denver speaks to OVI conference

OVI Keynote Speaker, John Hickenlooper, mayor of Denver

John Hickenooper, Mayor of DenverOpera Volunteers International opened its 2007 Denver conference with an entertaining, energetic and inspiring speech from Mayor John Hickenlooper, longtime friend of Conference Chair, Nancy Parker. It was very encouraging to hear how much he and his wife support the arts. Normally, the mayor speaks to groups numbering over a thousand so OVI was especially grateful for including us in his busy schedule running a major city.

Denver is very lucky to have this wonderful mayor! Thanks to Nancy Parker for having him give the kickoff address at the 2007 Opera Conference! I’m energized to go back and work with my City Council on this type of collaborative initiative — though Houston does have a very supportive mayor in Bill White. Seeing this video makes me feel like I attended the conference — special thanks to David Yuen for making this possible!
